Sony on Friday updated its SHAREfactory video editing app that was rolled out in April for PS4 consoles, with some new themes, filters, and editing options. The app was introduced as a part of the Japanese firm's firmware update v1.70 for the console.

The improvements made in the SHAREfactory app will now let players use new Saturate filters for film clips and screenshots. In addition, the Posterize, Saturate & Sepia filters now also feature different degrees of intensity.

Besides adding support for 'high quality microphones for commentary recording' the update also brings certain improvements in Audio Mixing Export feature and playback audio quality.

The app additionally lets users personalise the video by adding filters; use transitions and themes; add texts, sticker and audio; share them on social networks; and export videos to external USB storage.

In August during Gamescom 2014, Sony revealed some of the features that will arrive in the PS4's system update v2.00. The firm, besides these new features, which included an innovative game-sharing experience called 'Share Play', also announced release dates for PlayStation TV, and showcased several upcoming games for the console.
