How to Choose the Right Monitor for Gaming

By Sponsored Content | Updated: 26 December 2017 12:12 IST

When it comes to PC gaming, choosing the right monitor is as important as the right processor and video card. Despite playing as crucial a role in bringing your games to life as well as improving your performance in competitive titles, the monitor is often an overlooked component. Not anymore. Here's what you need to know about choosing the right gaming monitor.

Response time
Response time is defined as the time taken for a pixel to turn from one shade of grey to another and is measured in milliseconds. A shorter response time removes blurriness from the image and results in a better visual quality. Both the LG 34UC79G and LG 24GM79G sport 1ms Motion Blur Reduction. This feature gives you a lighting fast response time that negates any blurring and ghosting and the precision and accuracy to compete at the highest level.

Refresh rate
Refresh rate is the time taken to redraw the entire screen. It's measured in Hertz (Hz). Most monitors have a 60Hz refresh rate. What this means is that the screen is refreshed 60 times a second. It might sound like a lot but it's not. Reason being, at 60Hz, moving images may be displayed blurry and screen tearing - which is a result of two images drawn at the same time - gives an image quality and experience that's far from ideal. With all this in mind, you'll need a monitor with a higher refresh rate. This eliminates blurring and tearing to make for an accurate, consistent gaming experience. The LG 34UC79G and LG 24GM79G go beyond the industry standard of 60Hz, possessing an extreme 144Hz for fluid gameplay that other displays can't match.

Advanced features
The LG 34UC79G is a IPS UltraWide gaming monitor with 144Hz refresh rate. The 21:9 curved display offers a dynamic field of view - letting you immerse yourself in the action in ways other monitors cannot. And then there's Black Stabiliser on the LG 34UC79G and LG 24GM79G. This reveals more details in darker scenes, giving you the edge against enemies hiding in the shadows, allowing you to increase your accuracy in competitive shooters by placing a striking point in the centre of the screen. Finally, both monitors also have Adaptive Sync Technology that reduces motion blur, stuttering, and tearing that can occur due to the difference between a video card's and monitor's refresh rate, which means your gaming experience don't suffer from any of these problems.
