Now this is one phone that HTC may call "worth the price". 8 Gigas might be less for the pictures, and specifically for those who are fond of continuous shots. Nevertheless, It hardly hangs, Thanks to the Snapdragon processor and 1GB Ram. A Highly recommended phone

  • Serious calls dropping issue...plz don't buy!!
Anirudh Golwalkar (Jan 26, 2015) on Gadgets 360
Hi. I bought an HTC desire 816 in Oct 2014 and from day one it had calls dropping issue. I was new to smartphones and thought may be I am doing something wrong. But when problem persisted so much that I couldn't even take one call properly, I reported to customer care who initially did not beleive me as their call to me did not drop. After persistence, they suggested I take the handset to their "service center" which was nothing more than a third grade STD/PCO kind of shop in the basement of a cheap hotel in old Gurgaon. Even the service center guy discouraged me at first saying nothing will come out of repair and installed an OS update saying now the phone should work fine. However the problem still persisted and I gave the phone for repair. When I got it after seven days, the problem still persists. This was a new phone mind you. he nature of my job is such that I have to be on call at all times. So this constant dropping of phone calls is extremely frustrating. The HTC people won't replace the phone as the replacement warranty is only for 14 days. I got rid of the phone this morning by smashing it to pieces. Long story short....this might happen to you.

  • HTC - Experience
Avadhoot Bhende (Nov 25, 2014) on Gadgets 360
Hello HTC Desire 816 - Experience. Please read before deciding to buy any HTC phone. Will be beneficial for you only. I would advise all not to buy HTC phones at all. I had bought HTC Desire 816 in September 2014, overall the phone seemed to be good but then one day i sat on my friends bike, we rode for an hour or so, and when i got down there was this huge crack on the display. Now in a 1 months time if there is a crack on the phone, anyone would repair it and where would anybody head to in such a time, the Authorised service Centre. I went to (TVS Electronics, Mumbai, India). A. All service centres are outsourced by HTC, so you understand their way of working. Its been a month and a half i am without my cell and every time i call them they tell me that the part has been dispatched from Taiwan and hasn't reached India yet. I mean I don't understand which courier service in this world would take a month to deliver a parcel. Its Insane. B. Not only that they have this call centre support team but they are not at all helpful. First of all they blamed me only on how am i calling them after 30 days when the service centre had told i will get the phone in 15 days. And to top of it, all they can do in any case is just call the service centre and tell them to do it on priority basis. How dumb, That can even be done by me. Why has the HTC kept a call centre for this (What a waste, no wonder their financial condition is bad, all they can do is fight cases with other companies and wasting money on that, this same attention if they would give to the customers, certainly they would not have been in losses). And yes the call centre people cant even forward the call to their higher ups, Wow .... So in general they are not authorised to do anything. I had heard that HTC service is bad, but now i know it is the worst. I spent two months salary on this shitty HTC Desire 816, wish i wouldn't have bought it. The Bottom line is DO NOT BUY ANY HTC phones ever. Its the lamest company that i have ever seen in my whole life. Wish i could give a 0 star rating.

  • The HTC Desire 816 review
Harshita Narsimhan (May 1, 2014) on Flipkart
I was on the lookout for a good budget smartphone for a quite a while, and I had narrowed down my choices to the HTC Desire 816, and the Xperia T2 Ultra. I decided to go with the Desire 816 in the end, and here's my verdict. Firstly, ignore the bogus reviews. People are giving the phone a 1 star rating for no reason other than the fact that Flipkart's selling it at a higher price. I personally bought mine from a different retailer, whom I won't name. If you don't like the price, you don't have to buy it, don't give it a low rating just because the price is slightly higher. Secondly, look out for the certified buyer badge. Most of these 1 stars are coming from people who don't even own it. Anyway, let's get down to the phone. Things I loved: 1. The display. Sure, 5.5 inches may seem like a lot to many, but I personally adored it. Multimedia's an absolute pleasure on the Desire 816. Videos, games, you name it. There were lots of complaints about how the display isn't so crisp, but I never had a problem with it. 2. The camera. The 13 megapixels primary camera is surprisingly good, although the photographs contain quite a bit of noise in low-light. The 5 mp secondary camera packs quite a punch, with beautiful details and colours. Excellent for the selfie-lover. 3. The sound. The Desire 816 features the Boom Sound speakers found in its more expensive sibling, the One M8. It's clear, crisp, and is enough to fill a small room. 4. The built. Yes it does feature a plastic unibody, unlike the metallic ones of the HTC One range, but the plastic doesn't feel cheap and clunky. Instead, it has a very premium feel to it. The Desire 816 is very solidly built, although it is quite glossy and thus runs the risk of slipping from your hands. The back is also a haven for attracting fingerprints, but with a good case, you're good to go. 5. The phone features a 1.5 GB RAM, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad Core Processor. The phone runs very smoothly, without a lag, and responds in a fairly snappy manner. Things I didn't like so much: 1. The non-removable battery. This isn't much of an issue for me, but if it is for you, you may want to take it into consideration before buying it. 2. Battery drains quite quickly if you use it very heavily. 3. Only 8 GB of internal memory, of which about 3.8 GB is available for user. To max out the utility, I'd suggest getting a good micro SD card, as it is expandable to 128 gb. Verdict: This phone is definitely worth considering if you're on a budget but want a lot of features. HTC launched this as a 'midrange flagship phone', but according to me, it's anything but 'mid-range'. HTC has come back into the market with a bang, and how!

  • Stunner from HTC
Varun VK (Jun 1, 2014) on Flipkart
I was waiting for this phone to launch in india. Surely it is the best phone that you could buy at this price range. It has a massive 5.5" HD display with a awesome pixel density. The highlight of this phone is 13MP camera which is way better than the crappy ultrapixel that found in HTC flagships. It is powered by 2600mah battery which gives stunning backup. 5MP front cam is a unique feature so you could capture quality selfies. It also offering features like BlinkFeed and Zoe. The BlinkFeed feature lets you view a stream of personalised news, updates and stories on one screen. Great edge to edge design makes this phone way ahead from the competitors like moto x, nexus 5, xperia t2 ultra, galaxy grand 2. The non removable battery is the only let down of this stuff, but still it is the choice in this price tag

  • HTC finally found the whole package
Vishal Trivedi (Jun 1, 2014) on Flipkart
I bought the Dark Grey color device from a store nearby @ 23,500/- . Its been 1 week I am using. This time HTC has got its act right in mid range market with correct price, even though there are small compromises like 1.5 GB RAM instead of 2 GB and S4 processor instead of S6 however the Sense 6 with Kitkat is more optimized and less leggy than Samsung's TouchWiz and Sony's Skin hence its battery works well despite huge size. HTC also has natural color reproduction with its LCD2 screen than Amoled screen in Samsung. 13 MP camera and 5 MP front both are good for the price range. The only two cons are 1)Battery draining fast when playing games but its common with all mobile devices still overall much better battery than past HTC devices. 2) 8 GB Internal Memory. Other than that the package just fits the midrange tag. Love sense 6 with kitkat, boomsound dual speakers and even high graphics games like Asphalt 8 works fine. Also most apps can be transfered to SD Card(The device has slot for 128 GB).

very good phone,i bought white one from flipkart at Rs. 23029 3 days ago,i can feel the quality, display is very good, clear and vibrant,i cannot see pixilation,it has only 3.12 gb available for usage, but we can delete some installed apps.sense 6 user interface is very neat and fast, watching youtube listing music is awesome feeling due to big 5.5 inc screen. use gadgetshieldz protector for screen and back (as it tends to scratches).

Yadwinder Singh (Jun 1, 2014) on Flipkart
I was confused between Desire 816 and T2 Ultra but i chose to go with HTC. Display is great its sharp and vibrant, touch response is also very nice. Sound is great too but i was expecting it to be more loud but its good because of Stereo effects. Camera is nice in daylight but in low light environment photos become noisy and Front cam is fabulous i must say 5mp done great job. Only con i see in this device is battery because it drains quickly, i'll give 6.5 out of 10 in battery department. Otherwise i am very happy with "HTC desire 816" it is very fast and fluid to operate, it is a big device like Galaxy note 3 so it is not recommended for small hands (people). I'll give overall score 8.5 out 10 for this phone. Cheers...........!

If you don't want to spend 50K on a premium phone but still want everything (well, almost) this is the phone. Looks beautiful (white one) battery lasts 2 days, no lag, good display, good camera ,great sound - this in addition to minimal bloatware and HTC Sense 6 UI... I'm very happy with my purchase

  • Excellent Phone, Limited Stock, Bad Retailers and a Fluctuating Price
Suresh Verma (Jun 1, 2014) on Flipkart
The HTC Desire 816 is among the best smartphone available in the price range of 15000 to 25000. The reasons that is limiting the sales of the phone are: 1. Poor availability.(Please inform me if you know from where I can get the blue or the green color phone). 2. Even after weeks of Launch and market arrival, the phone on flipkart do not show deliver-ability to major cities like Pune etc. 3. High price (phone is available around 22K in hydrabad as per info posted on youtube review)
