Soon after apologising for issues faced by users during its Big Billion Day sale, Flipkart on Wednesday informed Flipkart First subscribers it has "turned off" its In-a-Day Guarantee and Same Day Guarantee delivery services temporarily, due to the "sheer volume of deliveries."

Update: The Indian e-commerce giant on Thursday emailed Flipkart First customers that the In-a-Day Guarantee service was now available again, saying, "We are pleased to announce that we are restarting our In-a-Day guarantee service with immediate effect."

Flipkart, informing users about the temporary suspension of In-a-Day Guarantee and Same Day Guarantee delivery services via email, said it will bring back the services as soon as it can, and reiterated what premium services Flipkart First subscribers can still use, from a 24x7 dedicated helpline, to free shipping on orders from WS Retail.

Due to the over-whelming response we got on the Big Billion Day, our delivery team is working round the clock to ensure every customer receives their products in a reasonable amount of time.

Given the sheer volume of deliveries, we have turned off our In-a-day Guarantee and Same Day Guarantee services temporarily. We apologize if this has caused any inconvenience and will bring back the services as soon as we can.

Flipkart's Big Billion Day saw sales of over Rs. 600 crores in 10 hours, however, it also saw many angry customers, with several alleging that Flipkart had increased prices of products leading up to the sale, misleading customers about the size of the discount. Users also faced other site-based glitches, including the website being inaccessible, out-of-stock issues, and cancellations.

Flipkart founders explained and apologised for these issues on Tuesday in an email.
