Twitter blocks Tumblr from accessing find friends feature
Blogging platform Tumblr has become the latest website to have its "find my Twitter friends" privileges revoked by the popular social networking site.

The development was noticed by Matt Buchanan of Buzzfeed, who tweeted "before" and "after" screenshots of the website's "Find people you know" page.

Both Twitter and Tumblr confirmed the development. Tumblr also issued the following statement to TheNextWeb:

To our dismay, Twitter has restricted our users' ability to "Find Twitter Friends" on Tumblr. Given our history of embracing their platform, this is especially upsetting. Our syndication feature is responsible for hundreds of millions of tweets, and we eagerly enabled Twitter Cards across 70 million blogs and 30 billion posts as one of Twitter's first partners. While we're delighted by the response to our integrations with Facebook and Gmail, we are truly disappointed by Twitter's decision.

Twitter said it had nothing to add to the statement issued when Instagram suffered a similar fate last month. To refresh your memory, the statement was:

We understand that there's great value associated with Twitter's follow graph data, and we can confirm that it is no longer available within Instagram.

Popular photo-sharing app Instagram released an update last month which had the 'Find Twitter Friends' feature missing. Instagram said Twitter has cut off its access to its API, which forced Instagram to drop the feature.
