Asus Taichi 31 ultrabook has started shipping in the US, the company announced via a press release.

Asus Taichi 31 comes with 13.3-inch dual-screen design, with screens on both sides of the lid. The display of this tablet cum ultrabook is made up of scratch-resistant glass, which supports 10-point multi-touch. In terms of operating system, there is an option of either Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.

It can be used as a standard notebook, tablet, or device to give presentation with, thanks to the extra screen. Other specifications include 128GB or 256GB solid state storage options, integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, USB 3.0 ports and an SD card reader. It comes with a backlit keyboard and has a full support for Windows 8 gestures. Taichi 31 claims to deliver 7 hours of battery life as opposed to 5 hours battery life of Taichi 21. In its official announcement Asus has not mentioned the official price for Taichi 31. However, it is expected to be north of $1,300, which is the price of the base model of Asus Taichi 21.

Asus Taichi 31 does come with a unique form factor, however at 13.3-inch it will be difficult to include this ultrabook cum tablet in the "most portable" devices list.

There is no word on India pricing or launch date as yet of Asus Taichi 31 - we don't expect the device to be launched in India anytime soon.
