HP on Wednesday formally announced the launch of its Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing solution in India. The new 3D printing solution will go on sale in the country with a price starting at Rs. 2.50 crores that includes pre- and post-processing unit alongside the 3D printer and its initial consumables. The company also announced Noida-based Adroitec and Mumbai-located Imaginarium as the exclusive reselling partners for selling its 3D printing solution that will come with three-year maintenance and service contract. HP's plans for stepping into the commercial and industrial 3D printing in the country were originally revealed last month.

Comes in two different variants - called the HP Jet Fusion 3D 3200 and Jet Fusion 3D 4200, the new 3D printing solution by HP are designed to support a large variety of fusing and detailing agents. The company claims that its proprietary printing technologies are designed to deliver physical parts at up to 10 times faster speed and at half the cost of any traditional 3D printing solution. Further, HP's 3D printing solution comes with a built-in thermal controlling function to enable predictive corrections voxel by voxel for optical mechanical properties. The printers have a touchscreen panel that allows users to monitor in-printer quality checks and eventually minimise errors in the furnished results.

HP has integrated wireless connectivity support within the Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing solution to offer customers with remote monitoring. Also, there are in-box software solution, namely HP SmartStream 3D Build Manager and Command Center, to make it easy for designers to bring the final part of their innovations in a short span of time. The printing solution uses multi-purpose, HP 3D High Reusability PA 12 thermoplastic that is touted to not just optimise the cost but also enhance the part quality. Moreover, an HP Jet Fusion 3D External Tank is available to give way to use different plastic-based printing materials. A fast-cooling module is also featured on the printing solution to result in faster time-to-part than traditional 3D printing systems.

"With HP's Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing solution, we will support India's transformation and enable local businesses to adopt best-in-class manufacturing technologies," said Sumeer Chandra, Managing Director, HP India, in a press statement.

Chandra told reporters at a press conference in New Delhi that with the launch of its new 3D printing solution in the country, HP is primarily focusing at automotive, healthcare, consumer goods, defence, and education and research. The company is ultimately aiming to cater the demand in the $12 trillion manufacturing market using its 3D printing solution, the executive added.

The present 3D printing solution by HP address the demands of the plastics market. However, the company already started investing in the market of metals as well. Alexandre Lalumiere, Director, Asia Pacific and Japan, 3D Printing, HP, in a conversation with Gadgets 360 said that the solution supporting metal-based 3D printing would debut later this year.

HP runs its Open Materials Platform that helps to expand the material support for its Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing solution. At present, there are more than 50 companies worldwide that are actively engaged in the open approach, including Arkema, BASF, Dow Chemical, Dressler, DSM, Evonik, Henkel, Lehmann & Voss, Lubrizol, and Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Company among various others. The company in last September also tied up with Siemens to integrate its 3D printers with Siemens' Additive Manufacturing (AM) software module.
