  • Vivo V5s features a 20-megapixel front camera
  • Oppo F3 sports a dual selfie camera

Huawei recently launched the Honor 8 Lite for the Indian market at a price of Rs. 17,999. The mid-range smartphone highlights a premium glass design and Android Nougat OS with the company's latest EMUI 5.0 on top. At this price range, we compare the handset with Vivo V5s and Oppo F3, which are priced at Rs. 18,990 and Rs. 19,990, respectively to see which smartphone looks better on paper.

Honor 8 Lite Vs Vivo V5s Vs Oppo F3: Specifications compared

The dual-SIM Honor 8 Lite sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with a 2.5D curved-edge glass on the front and back. The Vivo V5s sports a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass on top, and the Oppo F3 bears a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) In-Cell TFT 2.5D curved display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The Honor 8 Lite is powered by Huawei's own octa-core Kirin 655 SoC, while the Vivo V5s is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC and the Oppo F3 with a similar 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750T6 octa-core SoC. All the three smartphones are offered with 4GB of RAM. They also come with 64GB of storage with the option to expand it using microSD card (up to 128GB for Honor 8 Lite and Oppo F3 and up to 256GB for Vivo V5s).

The Honor 8 Lite features a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and autofocus, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera with a 77-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. In our first impressions of the Honor 8 Lite, we found the cameras to be quite satisfactory and Huawei's EMUI 5.0 a welcome upgrade with it a smoother, cleaner UI.

Optics for the Vivo V5s include a 20-megapixel front camera with a 'Moonlight Glow' front light and an f/2.0 aperture, and a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual-LED flash. In our review of the Vivo V5s, we found the smartphone an improvement over the Vivo V5 with impressive performance, battery life, and camera quality. But we did find the HD display and Marshmallow OS to be disappointing.

Meanwhile, the Oppo F3 features a dual selfie camera - one 16-megapixel 1.3-inch sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and a double view wide-angle camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, while the back sees a 13-megapixel camera. The smartphone also bears a fingerprint sensor on the home button, which is said to unlock the smartphone in 0.2 seconds.

The Honor 8 Lite and Vivo V5s come with 3000mAh batteries while the Oppo F3 packs a slightly bigger 3200mAh battery. Connectivity options for the smartphones are mostly similar including 4G VoLTE, Wi-FI 802.11, Micro-USB 2.0, to name a few.

The Honor 8 Lite is the lightest at 147 grams while the Oppo F3 is the slimmest at 7.3mm.

Honor 8 Lite Vs Vivo V5s Vs Oppo F3: Price compared

The Honor 8 Lite, Vivo V5s and Oppo F3 are offered in a single variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The first is the cheapest at Rs. 17,999, while the Vivo V5s and Oppo F3 are priced higher at Rs. 18,990 and Rs. 19,990, respectively.

Considering the price, the Honor 8 Lite is the only smartphone among the three that runs on Android Nougat, while the Vivo V5s and Oppo F3 sadly run on Android Marshmallow. And if software is your main concern then the Honor 8 Lite takes the win here. The glass design of the smartphone also gives it a premium look and feel, although the Oppo F3 also comes with a premium metal finish. Here, the Vivo V5s feels a bit lacking with a faux-metal finish, which doesn't exactly give a premium feel.

You can take a look below for a detailed comparison of the Honor 8 Lite, Vivo V5s and Oppo F3 to see which smartphone looks better in this price range, at least on paper.
