500,000 Microsoft Lumia 535 Units Shipped to India Since Launch: Report

Microsoft has imported over half-a-million units of the Lumia 535 in India since the smartphones launch in November, according to Indian export/ import site Zauba.

Despite a touchscreen issue affecting some Lumia 535 handsets that required the company to issue a fix, the device seems to doing great for Microsoft in India - at least in terms of shipments. The device was launched on November 26 and went on sale from November 28.

According to Zauba (via Nokiapoweruser), Microsoft India has imported a total of 502,468 Lumia 535 devices worth $30,303,313 (approximately Rs. 187 crores) so far, including 237,040 units in January itself.

"Bangalore Air Cargo accounted for 31.2 percent of imports followed by Delhi Air Cargo and Bombay Air Cargo which account for 28.8 percent and 20.5 percent of imports respectively," notes Zauba.

Notably, the Lumia 535 is the first Lumia smartphone without Nokia branding. The smartphone comes in a dual-SIM variant as well, the Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM (Review | Pictures). It runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update and features a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a qHD (540x960 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 220ppi. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz alongside 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB of built-in storage that is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It comes in Cyan, Bright Green, Bright Orange, White, Dark Grey, and Black colour options. Much like other Lumia handsets, the Lumia 535 and Lumia 535 Dual SIM also get 15GB of free OneDrive cloud storage.
