A new Chinese smartphone brand is gearing up to launch in India with a Xiaomi-like online-only sales model. Named Coolpad Dazen, the company has appointed former Flipkart executive Varun Sharma as the India CEO.

The Chinese company has also confirmed that it will soon set up R&D centre alongside a manufacturing plant in the country as part of the 'Make in India' campaign.

Coolpad in a press statement claimed that it holds over 6,000 patents including dual-SIM and dual standby. Meanwhile, it claims to have ranked as the top player in the Chinese LTE market with a series of 4G patents.
