Coolpad Rogue Entry-Level Smartphone With Android 5.1.1, 4G Launched

Chinese smartphone vendor Coolpad on Wednesday launched one of the cheapest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based smartphones in the market called Rogue. The smartphone manufacturer has teamed up with T-Mobile, a US-based telecom carrier, for exclusive launch in the US. Priced at $49.99 (approximately Rs. 3,300), the Coolpad Rogue will be available to buy via T-Mobile online and offline stores starting September 30.

The budget handset supports 4G LTE networks and features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution display. Powered by a dual-core 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 304, the Coolpad Rogue features 1GB of RAM. It also houses 4GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (up to 32GB).

On the camera front, the Coolpad Rogue equips 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA resolution) front facing camera for video chats. The device features standard connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G, FM radio, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro-USB connectivity. The handset measures 126.5x64.4x13.2mm and is backed by a battery, which is said deliver up to 6 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.

"With a $49.99 price point, the Rogue is our first phone from Coolpad and the perfect addition to our affordable Android smartphone lineup this holiday."

Coolpad in May this year launched two smartphones in India under its Dazen brand - Dazen 1 and Dazen X7. The Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphones support 4G LTE networks and dual-SIM connectivity. While the Dazen 1 was priced at Rs. 6,999, the Dazen X7 came with a price tag of Rs. 17,999.
