HTC has launched a new smartphone in its Butterfly range, the J Butterfly (HTV31) in Japan. The smartphone is now listed on the company's Japanese site as well as mobile carrier KDDI's website.

There is no word on pricing of the HTC J Butterfly (HTV31); though the company has confirmed that it will be released sometime in summer and will be available in Japan. There is no word on global release of the J Butterfly smartphone yet, but it is expected to be released as the HTC Butterfly 3, following the naming convention of previous iterations.

The HTC J Butterfly (HTV31) runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, much like HTC's 2015 flagship, the One M9. The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super LCD3 display and is a water and dust resistant device with IPX5/ IPX7 and IP5X certification.

The J Butterfly (HTV31), much like the One M9, runs on 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 (quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz) SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB built-in storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 200GB).
