A new HTC press invitation has been posted on the Web by the firm, stating an event scheduled for September 29 in Hankone, Japan. As per the invitation, HTC would be launching a "dual flagship". The two flagship smartphones are not shown in the invite. Recently leaks however, do point to two possible launches, the HTC Aero A9 and the HTC Butterfly 3.

The invitation was posted on the company's Weibo handle but without any other information than what is already there in the invite, beyond the caption "The World Best Meets the Best". Notably, HTC posted a teaser image of a smartphone on its Weibo handle last week as well, suggesting a launch of a 'superior, handsome' handset on September 6. However, the Taiwanese company later launched its mid-range Desire 728 smartphone. The invite was spotted by tipster @upleaks.

Although HTC has not yet mentioned as to which devices it would be unveiling on September 29, reports coming from China (via GSMArena) are speculating the HTC Butterfly 3 and the much talked-about HTC Aero A9 to debut at the event - the latter was tipped to launch at the now past Sunday event.

As per recent rumours, the HTC Aero A9 is supposed to pack a QHD resolution display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and 2.5D curved edges, a MediaTek Helio X20 ten-core tri-cluster processor with 4GB of RAM and Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. If the previously leaked image showing the HTC Aero A9 smartphone is any indication, the device would be sharing most of its design profile with the iPhone 6 smartphone. The images uploaded by @Onleaks (Steve Hemmerstoffer) weeks ago showed the front and rear panel of the alleged HTC Aero A9 smartphone.

As for the rumoured Butterfly 3, the smartphone is said to be the international version of the HTC J Butterfly (HTV31), which was launched in Japan this May. The Android 5.0 Lollipop-based smartphone features a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super LCD3 display; IPX5/ IPX7 and IP5X certification; octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC; 3GB of RAM; 32GB built-in storage; expandable storage via microSD card (up to 200GB); a 20.2-megapixel rear camera; a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2700mAh battery.
