Just a day ago we reported that LG is expected to announce sequels to its current Optimus L Series devices at the Mobile World Congress later this month. It looks like the Korean manufacturer couldn't wait that long and has officially announced the next generation L Series II smartphones - the Optimus L3 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L7 II.

The Korean manufacturer claims that has built upon the widely successful L Series smartphones that sold more than 10 million units in the first 10 months, to include "contemporary design aesthetics and innovations that improve on the original".

In that regard, LG says it has introduced four new design elements incorporating a Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button.

Currently, LG seems to be keeping the Optimus L7 II under the spotlight, which features a 4.3-inch IPS WVGA display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card support. The handset measures 121.5 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm, and comes with a 2,460 mAh battery.

LG also mentioned that the dual-SIM version of the Optimus L7 II will be the first to launch as part of the new series and will debut in Russia this week, with pricing for the device still unknown. The Optimus L7 II will include LG's unique UX features such as QSlide and QuickTranslator.

The company said that the Optimus L3 II with 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display and 1,540mAh battery and the Optimus L5 II with a larger 4-inch WVGA display and 1,700mAh battery will be announced at a later date. Furthermore, all three new Optimus L Series II handsets have dual-SIM versions and will be unveiled later this month in Barcelona, during Mobile World Congress 2013.

The L Series II devices are said to be equipped with various proprietary features like QuickMemo, Quick Button and Safety Care.

QuickMemo allows users to capture and share handwritten ideas with a single tap, while Quick Button enables customers to personalize a hotkey to launch any app such as the camera, browser, music player or even QuickMemo. Safety Care offers three options - Emergency Call Forwarding, Phone Non-Usage Notice' and My Location Notice - which can be programmed for emergency contacts.

"LG has a history of pushing the envelope when it comes to style and Optimus L SeriesII builds on this heritage of design innovation," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. He further added, "By evolving the sophisticated style and premium features of the original Optimus L Series, its sequel is expected to continue the popularity of the L Series around the world."
