Last month, an LG executive had reportedly confirmed that the upcoming flagship - the LG G4 - will not be unveiled at MWC. Now a report claims that the smartphone may release in April.

"LG Electronics decided not to release the G4 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition in Barcelona in March," a source told Koreatimes. "It may release it in April."

While the official release time of the anticipated LG G4 is yet to be confirmed by the company, the Koreatimes report suggests that LG has delayed the release because it wanted to avoid a clash with the Samsung Galaxy S6.

"Samsung usually releases its new flagship model in the first quarter of each year, and Apple in the second quarter," another source said. "We need some in-between time to make a bigger splash."

The company's last two flagship smartphones - the LG G3 and LG G2 released in May 2014 and August 2013 respectively - avoiding clash with their Samsung counterparts - the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S4, announced in February 2014 and March 2013 respectively.

As yet, there is not much-known about the LG G4 in terms of specifications. Earlier this month, a report tipped that the company will include a 3K (1620x2880 pixels) display for the device. Apart from that, the device is also anticipated to use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 processor.

In December, it was reported that the Snapdragon 810 overheating issues got the LG G4 delayed. But when LG released the G Flex2 with Snapdragon 810, it dismissed these rumours.

LG's Vice President for Mobile Product Planning, Woo Ram-Chan had said at the time "I am very much aware of the various concerns in the market about the [Snapdragon] 810, but the chip's performance is quite satisfactory," and "I don't understand why there is an issue over heat."
