Samsung Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance, Galaxy Ace NXT Launched in India

Samsung has launched three new affordable Galaxy smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat in the Indian market - the Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT.

The Samsung Galaxy Star 2 has been priced at Rs. 5,100, while both the Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT will be available at Rs. 7,400. The South Korean giant has not revealed the availability details for the three new Galaxy handsets.

Notably, all three new Samsung smartphones - the Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT - run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with the company's TouchWiz Essence UI on top, and all three support dual-SIM functionality.

In addition, the company revealed that the three new Galaxy smartphones come with support for 12 Indian languages including Assamese, Bengali, Guajarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Samsung, in partnership with Vodafone, has also announced 200MB of free data per month for the first six months.

The Samsung Galaxy Star 2 comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA (320x480 pixels). It is powered by a single-core Spreadtrum SC6815A clocked at 1GHz alongside 512MB of RAM. It sports a 2-megapixel fixed focus rear camera and includes 4GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Micro-USB connectivity options. The Galaxy Star 2 does not come with 3G network support and comes with 109.8x59.9x11.8mm dimensions and weighs 108 grams. It packs a 1300mAh battery, and will be available in Grey and White colour variants.

Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Star Advance was recently listed on the company's India e-store as Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus. However, Samsung, with the official launch, has now pulled the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus listing and replaced it with the Galaxy Star Advance.

The Galaxy Star Advance features a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) TFT display and is powered by a 1.2GHz (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is no front-facing camera onboard. The 4GB of inbuilt storage on the Galaxy Star Advance can be expanded further up to 32GB (via microSD card).

Connectivity options on the device include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It packs an 1800mAh battery, measures 129.7x65.9x9.4mm and weighs 138 grams. The smartphone will be available in Black and White colour options.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Ace NXT, which was recently listed on the company's site with a price of Rs. 7,335, features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) TFT display, and packs a Spreadtrum Dolphin (single A7) 1.2GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is no front facing camera onboard. The 4GB of inbuilt storage on the Galaxy Ace NXT can be expanded further up to 32GB (via microSD card).

Connectivity options on the Galaxy Ace NXT include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, and GPS/ A-GPS. The smartphone packs a 1500mAh battery. It measures 121.4x62.9x10.7mm and weighs 123 grams. It will be available in Black and White colour variants.

Commenting on the launch, Asim Warsi, Vice President, Marketing, Mobile and IT at Samsung India, said, "Especially created for the Indian market Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Star Advance and Galaxy Ace NXT have been launched to provide a larger set of consumers with the experience of superior mobile technologies and richer internet experience at an affordable price."
