Swipe has launched a new budget smartphone, called the Sense, priced at Rs. 9,999.

The Swipe Sense comes with a fingerprint reader, which is the highlight of the device at this price point. Notably, the fingerprint reader is located at the rear panel of the device just below the primary camera, a set-up we have seen in the Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5.

Until now, a fingerprint scanner has been seen as a high-end feature and was seen in such devices as the Apple iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One Max. However, the feature seems to have finally gone mainstream as another Indian handset brand, iberry, recently launched the Auxus Note 5.5 with fingerprint scanner feature, priced at Rs. 13,990.

It's worth mentioning that Swipe Sense will be the first smartphone to come with the fingerprint reader feature in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category.

In addition to the fingerprint reader, Swipe Sense also comes with an additional 2250mAh battery in the box, apart from the 2250mAh battery backing the device.

The Swipe Sense runs the recent Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS out-of-the-box. It offers dual-SIM (GSM-GSM) support. The new Android smartphone from Swipe features a 5.5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) IPS display. An unspecified quad-core processor powers the device, clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The new Swipe Sense smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, and can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB).

Announcing the new smartphone, Shripal Gandhi, Founder and CEO, Swipe, said, "Swipe Sense is our latest offering that adds an additional layer of security to the pack of rich multimedia and social media features. And keeping our tradition of ensuring affordability, we have priced Swipe Sense at an attractive point that makes it absolutely sensible."
