Last month, Xiaomi's Mi Max phablet started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI beta update. However, the company has now released a list of its smartphones that have either been updated or will be updated to Android Nougat. While the list contains a total of 14 Xiaomi devices, the notable exception seems to be the China variant of the Redmi Note 4.
The newly released list from Xiaomi includes smartphones that will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat as well as Android 7.1 Nougat, as pointed out in a report by GizmoChina, originally reported by Chinese site IT Home. The devices that will be upgraded to the former version include the Xiaomi Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Redmi Note 4X (launched as Redmi Note 4 in India), Mi MIX, Mi 5, Mi 5s, and Mi 5s Plus.
The devices that will be upgraded to Android 7.1 Nougat include Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5c, and Redmi 4X (launched as the Redmi 4 in India).
While Xiaomi has a reputation of providing ever-so-slow upgrades in terms of Android versions, the company regularly provides MIUI updates to users to give them access to new features and more security. Though Android O release is still far off, this latest update from the company should come as a relief to the users and keep them calm till the company eventually rolls out the update for the next version of Android.
