Xiaomi India Updates PickMi Service to Make It Easier to Book a Pickup

Xiaomi on Tuesday announced an update to its PickMi doorstep pick up and drop service, which commenced in October this year.

The company said users will now find it easier to book the PickMi service by just giving a 'missed call' to 7676404444 instead of a full-fledged call with the company representative. The service still stays accessible with the older 1800 103 6286 toll free number.

"We have always focused on meeting the needs of our customers and providing them with the best user experience. With Pick Mi, we are trying to revamp the service model in India and bringing the convenience of e-commerce (doorstep delivery) to the service industry. We have seen positive results for Pick Mi. A large number of people are already using the service regularly in the pilot cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, and we receive a few hundred calls every single day," said Manu Jain, Head of Mi India, in an emailed statement.

The PickMi doorstep pick up and drop service by Xiaomi can be availed for Rs. 189 inclusive of tax. Xiaomi claims that the service is available at more than 6,076 pin codes and 597 cities in India including places such as Kohima, Bhuj, Kangra, and Andaman Nicobar islands.

Xiaomi is not the only Chinese company stressing on improving the after sales service of its products across India. Meizu, another Chinese handset brand, while announcing its MX5 smartphone in August, had confirmed plans to launch 40 customer service centres across 20 Indian cities as well and to offer a doorstep service facility as well.

Motorola, now owned by Lenovo, in August had announced a pilot project to provide doorstep service to its smartphone users in India. Called Moto Xpress, the service offered home pickup and drop service for fixing software and accessory related issues on the spot within an hour, while hardware issues within five working days.

Micromax's subsidiary, Yu, also offers door step delivery and the company claims to offer the services since the day one of the launch.
