MapmyIndia Launches Android-Based ICENAV 701 In-Dash Navigation System

MapmyIndia on August 19 launched its Android-based in-dash car navigation and entertainment system, ICENAV 701, in India. The company's ICENAV 701 system comes with numerous navigation features along with the support for Android apps via Google Play.

Priced at Rs. 39,990, the Android-based ICENAV 701 in-dash navigation and entertainment system is available in major cities like Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Users can buy the device from car showrooms or can order online from the main website - it fits in a standard double-DIN car dash slot.

The ICENAV 701 in-dash car system features a 6.2-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution TFT LCD display and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Powered by an ARM dual core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1GHz and paired with 1GB DDR3 RAM, and has a DVD player. The device also features GPS, Wi-Fi, aux-in, Bluetooth, and FM radio connectivity, apart from SD/ USB/ AV-IN ports.

MapmyIndia touts ICENAV 701's 4.1 channel audio system along with a set of preset audio controls. Users can customise the controls as per their need. The in-dash car device also lets users control the output of the front and rear speakers.

Besides the ability to customise the home screen of ICENAV 701, users can download apps from Google Play, browse the web, and consume media, all via Wi-Fi hotspot with a smartphone of a 3G Wi-Fi data card.

The car navigation and entertainment system supports rear camera connectivity for better assistance while reversing the car. In addition, the device comes with MapmyIndia Maps version 9.0 which the company says has

10.54 million unique destinations (Points of Interests), expanded coverage of over 2 million kilometres road network; coverage of 7,068 cities at street level with house address level data for 80 cities, 600,000 villages, as well as 3D and 2D landmarks in 86 cities. The company is touting its preloaded social navigation and location apps - ReachMe, Locate, and Explore.

MapmyIndia recently launched a new Android-based navigation tablet in India at Rs. 17,990, called Buzz. The MapmyIndia Buzz is an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-based tablet with a 7-inch TFT LCD display (resolution unspecified). It comes powered by an unnamed dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor.

Some of the other features included in the MapmyIndia Buzz navigation tablet include 8GB of built-in storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB), a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3.7V lithium-polymer battery.
