  • Feature is available in predominantly English-speaking countries

Google Home is now getting better multitasking features. The smart speaker from Google will soon be able to perform up to three queries/ commands at a time, so that you can multitask using just the spoken word. For instance, you will be able to say, "Ok Google, switch on the lights and play music and turn up the volume," all in one go, and Google Assistant will do all that for you. At the Google I/O 2018, the company had announced the multiple actions feature, but it has just started to roll out now.

The announcement about the update was done by the Made by Google Twitter page. However, the tweet has been deleted, possibly indicating the feature is not quite ready and may take some time before the official re-announcement. Meanwhile, in another tweet, Google says that the feature is only available in some English-speaking countries such as Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US) at the moment. But, as per a TechCrunch report, Google has informed that it is planning to support more languages, but there's nothing more to announce at the moment.

According to the report, the new feature works by combining voice queries with the word 'and' in between different requests. Also, the commands should be given in a way that Google Assistant is able to respond to on its own without asking a follow-up question. Notably, the new feature is different from 'Routines' that allows users to train Home to perform a longer set of actions based on their voice commands.

Previously, Google Home speakers could perform two commands at the same time. But the additional new command support will be helpful particularly for connected households, where users may need to juggle more tasks? Adding a third request could save time for people who have a lot of smart home appliances controlled by their Google Home.
