Facebook Testing Option to Post Stickers in Comments

Facebook has confirmed that it is currently testing the option to post stickers while commenting on a post. Notably, these stickers have been only Facebook Messenger exclusive until now.

The confirmation came from a Facebook spokesperson when asked about the issue by The Next Web. "We are running a test which allows you to add a sticker to a comment on Facebook," replied the spokesperson.

The users can add the sticker in the same way like they do in the Facebook Messenger app. As seen in one of the screenshots shared by Thodoris Konsoulas (via AllFacebook), the sticker button is placed besides the camera button in the comment bar. On clicking the sticker button, the option would expand with a number of default stickers and other sticker packs purchased by the user.

Details on the global roll-out of the 'stickers in comments' feature have not been divulged yet. However, select users can be seen posting stickers under the comments section as a part of the testing phase.

Facebook last week rolled-out an update for its Windows Phone Messenger app that included the emoticon option. Users can send emoticons from within the updated Facebook Messenger app - the feature can be accessed via a dedicated button on the navigation bar. Once the emoticon bar expands, users also see the option to reach for Windows Phone Store to buy more emoticon packs.

In June, Unicode Consortium, the body responsible for standardising graphic symbols, announced its version 7.0 of the Unicode Standard.

The Unicode Standard 7.0 is said to include 2,834 new characters including new currency symbols for the Russian rouble and Azerbaijani manta. It also includes roughly 250 new pictographic emoji symbols, and 23 new scripts along with added characters in the existing scripts.
