With the Google Nexus I/O just round the corner there are plenty of rumours doing the round as to what Google might announce at this event.

According to a news report by AppleInsider, Google might be looking at launching a refreshed Google Nexus 7 at this year's Google I/O. The website is quoting Ming-Chi Kuo, an Analyst with KGI Securities, who shares that the next generation of Google Nexus 7 tablet will come with a high-resolution screen. It is expected that the tablet will have a 7-inch LTPS display with 1,980X1,200 pixel resolution.

Furthermore, Kuo notes that the new Nexus 7 will also have a 5-megapixel rear camera. The new Nexus 7 is also likely to support wireless charging, which will be made possible by Texas Instruments. However, he believes that the search engine giant will continue to sell the new tablet for $199.

According to Kuo, owing to $199 pricing, Google will be losing at least $5 to $10 per unit but will look at recovering that cost from media purchases and ad revenues.

In addition to this, the next generation Google Nexus 7 tablet is likely to have smaller bezels just like the Apple iPad mini. It will allegedly run on Android Jelly Bean operating system. Kou even states that according to him Android 5.0 will not be showcased at this event.

Kuo believes that Google will be adopting the same distribution model for its new tablet as it did for the Google Nexus 7.

On paper, the next generation Google Nexus 7 looks pretty interesting. If the rumours regarding the delay in Apple iPad mini 2 are indeed true, then Google may have an added advantage on its side.

Apart from the next generation Google Nexus 7, there are also rumours regarding Google making gaming related announcements at Google I/O 2013, which is being held in San Francisco from May 15 to 17.
