Sony has announced its third tablet 'Xperia Tablet S' on Wednesday at a press event in Berlin, Germany. Featuring 9.4-inch display, Xperia Tablet S will come with Ice Cream Sandwich on-board.

As rumoured earlier, the new tablet joins Sony's smartphones under the Xperia sub-brand. The tablet comes with NVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Infrared sensor. According to the company, Xperia Tablet S has enhanced the universal remote feature by adding macro functionality, allowing the ability to turn on multiple devices of most brands, including TV, Blu-ray Disc player and audio system, with the touch of one button.

Xperia Tablet S also comes with a guest mode that allows the owner of the tablet to add personalized configurations for different users by displaying different wallpaper, applications and widgets.

"Tablets are no longer just a personal device, but are being shared by family members, and we heard from consumers that they wanted to have parental controls. It was important for us to provide parents with a solution for controlling what content their children could access from the tablet," said Phil Lubell, vice president of networked technologies and services at Sony Electronics.

The Japanese manufacturer has also announced several accessories for the tablet including a cover with keyboard, which features a thin keyboard that connects via the device's multi-port. Other accessories include docking stand, simple stand, carrying cover, a charging cradle and a dock speaker.
