Airtel Unlimited 5G Data offer was first launched in India in 2023. Recently, various users reportedly complained about being unable to access unlimited 5G data when sharing it over a mobile hotspot. Reports hinting at the unsaid mandate had also been surfacing online for a while. There are a lot of screenshots of Airtel's terms and conditions doing rounds on the internet for the same. However, sources close to the development told Gadgets360 that there are no such terms and conditions available on the Airtel website. Furthermore, the Airtel terms and conditions page also does not mention such conditions at the time of writing.
As per multiple reports (via The Tech Outlook), the terms and conditions page on its website reportedly mentions that it does not allow customers to share Unlimited 5G Data via mobile hotspot. Furthermore, the screenshot in question states that the Unlimited 5G Data offers are only meant for “personal and non-commercial use”. However, sources close to the development have told Gadgets360 that no such terms and conditions are available on the Airtel website.
In November last year, Airtel announced that it had started transitioning its existing 5G customers towards the dual-mode 5G network, which operates on the Non-Standalone (NSA) + Standalone (SA) model. The company said that it was a step towards the adoption of the 5G Advanced network in India.
Meanwhile, the company has quietly removed one of its entry-level postpaid plans in India. The company's website currently lists the Rs. 449 postpaid plan as the entry-level postpaid plan and has removed the Rs. 549 plan from its website. The postpaid plan is not listed on Airtel's website or within the Airtel Thanks app. With this, users can now choose between the entry-level Rs. 449 postpaid plan and the Rs. 699 Family plan. The rest of Airtel's postpaid lineup remains unchanged.
