Garmin, a satellite navigation firm, has launched its Vivosmart fitness tracker in India. The wearable was first unveiled globally last year, and is exclusively available to buy from Snapdeal at Rs. 10,990 (MRP Rs. 12,990).

The Garmin Vivosmart lets users track steps, heart rate and calories burnt. The wearable also monitors user's sleep time, is water resistant, features an OLED display and can run for 7 days on a single charge.

Under its smart notifications section, the Garmin Vivosmart lets users view text, call alerts and email once it gets synced with the compatible Bluetooth supporting device. The health tracker vibrates whenever a notification arrives. Users can however, simply swipe the notification alert to dismiss it. It is worth mentioning that Vivosmart also gives an alert to users after every one hour of inactivity to move and walk around.

The Vivosmart is available in five colour variants - Black, Slate, Blue, Purple, and Berry.

Users would have to download the Garmin Connect app on their smartphones to keep a track of their daily goals. They can also link tier accounts to MyFitnessPal account using the app.

"With its activity tracking features, additional workout support including timed activities, and smart notifications Vivosmart is like having a personal coach and assistant right on your wrist," said Tony An, Garmin Asia Sales Director about the India launch. "It challenges and motivates users to stay active and create lifelong healthy habits, while keeping them connected to family, friends, work, and more. We have partnered with Snapdeal to reach out to a wide range of customers in India, as an extension of our commitment to embrace the lifestyles across the globe."
