Chrome is the most used Web browser in the world, but faces constant criticism over perceived drawbacks it brings along. Google has now claimed that the browser has seen a double-digit growth both in terms of speed as well as battery efficiency in last one year with the constant updates provided by the search giant.

"Speed has always been a priority for Chrome. People spend so much time in the browser that even tiny page delays can add up to minutes of lost time every day," Google said in a blog post on Tuesday. The company said that in comparison to last year, Chrome has become 15 percent faster on both desktop and Android, when compared to Chrome 46 with browser benchmark website Speedometer.

Google said that due to implementation of its power management tools "Chrome [53] for Mac now uses 33 percent less power for everything from videos and images to simple page scrolling," compared to Chrome 46 for Mac.
