Facebook announced a standalone app for its events service called 'Events from Facebook' in October. The app essentially provides users with all the event-related features from the social networking site in one place. Till now, the app was only available on iOS but on Tuesday, the social networking giant has finally released Events from Facebook on Android.

The Events from Facebook app keeps users updated about all the events such as concerts, plays, matches etc. that are happening around them or will happen in the near future. The app helps users make plans with their friends as it allows them to see the events that their friends are interested in. Users also get to see the details about events being organised by their liked pages and the app helps keeps them up to date.

"All the things you love about events on Facebook are still the same but with this app you can have it all in one place. See the latest events activity, discover new things to do with friends and quickly get to event info. Events works seamlessly with Facebook, so your friends can see what you're interested in and what you've invited them to, even if they don't have the app," Facebook says in the app's description on Google Play.

With Events from Facebook, users will be able to see the local events that are happening around them with the help of an interactive map and they will get recommendations for certain events on the basis of events that they have attended in past and pages they have liked. Users can integrate their phone's calendar with the app and also opt-in to get updates if details about an event are changed.

Facebook already offers standalone apps for its Messenger, Moments, and Workplace services, amongst others.
