Facebook has updated its iOS app, bringing the option to edit posts and comments after publishing them, and adding photos as comments.

The editing option is only available on Facebook's iPhone version, though.  Users can also add icons when they post to someone's timeline (available only with English language option).

One of the other major changes that the updated Facebook for iOS app brings is a new way to get to Privacy Settings. While the option is still present prominently under the 'More' tab, Facebook now also displays a lock symbol with the user's name tapping on which opens the Privacy Settings similar to how Facebook displays this symbol in the web version. In addition to these changes and feature additions, the update also brings some bug fixes.

With the update, it appears that Facebook wants to make the user experience on its apps and website more coherent. Facebook had introduced the ability to edit comment on posts on the web version of the service, in September.

Last month, Facebook had redesigned its iOS app featuring an overhauled user interface and new design elements, in line with iOS 7's design.

The updated app brought a more iOS-like navigation with a new bar at the bottom of the app, that features buttons for News feed, Friend Requests, messages, notifications, and a More button that offers a menu which was previously included in a sliding pane at the left hand, a feature that some people also call the Hamburger menu. The iPad counterpart still retains the original UI elements including the sliding pane at the left hand and three small icons for Friend requests, Messages, and Notifications at the top header. However, the header now sports blue colour.

What's New in Facebook Version 6.6

• Express yourself with icons when you post to someone's timeline (English only)
• Get to privacy shortcuts by tapping the lock by your name in the main menu
