The Google Maps team at Sydney has come up with a new app called Google Maps Coordinate that provides real-time information of workers on location. The mobile and web-based versions of the app will allow organisations to update and track progress of various tasks assigned to the workers on-field.

Announcing via a blog post, the search giant stated that companies can use the service for $15 a month to share location information and also maintain a permanent record of where everyone has been. Regarding the workings of the app, Google mentioned that it combines the power of Google's mapping technologies with modern smartphones to help organizations assign jobs and deploy staff more efficiently.

Once employees download the app on their device after agreeing to the terms and conditions, they can update their location every five seconds or at one-hourly intervals. Employees can also schedule their tracking with the Android app. They can choose to be invisible on the map or set it in a manner that allows them not to be tracked after work hours.

As of now , workers can update their job status through text. But Google also plans to allow employees to upload photos in the near future.
