Back in November last year, we heard Instagram was testing multiple account support on its Android app. The Facebook-owned company has finally launched support for multiple accounts, and it is now available for both Android and iOS users.

To enable the feature, users will need to visit the app settings, scroll down, and select 'Add account'. They will then be directed to the regular login page, with which they have to sign into their new account. To switch between accounts, tap on your username on the top of your profile, and it will show other signed-in accounts on the device. Users will see their profile photo appear in places throughout the app so they are aware which account they are using.

The feature comes as a part of the app update v7.15 on Android and iOS, adds the company blog post. While the feature is visible on the iOS app, the functionality appears to also be tied to some server-side changes on Android, so not all Android users are seeing it yet. The latest app is available to download from Google Play and App Store.

Instagram last month brought the 3D Touch for its Android app. Support for 3D Touch allows users to use 'Peek and Pop' gestures based on the pressure applied on the screen of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In the case of Android however, hard or soft presses will not bring up additional options - what with the paucity of Android phones with pressure sensitive displays. With the help of 3D Touch feature on Android, Instagram now lets users tap and hold on an image thumb, which then expands and shows a preview along with the option to comment, like, and share.

The photo-sharing service in December announced that its user base in India doubled over the last year. Instagram passed the 400 million user mark in September and had also claimed that it had over 80 million pictures shared daily.
