Twitter has updated its Android, iPhone and mobile web apps.

The Android app has received a major revamp in terms of user interface and bears a flat navigation bar. It's more in line with Google's Holo design language. The new app features wider and taller timelines that fill the screen, and tap and hold for quick actions, in addition to other changes. The app lets users quickly navigate between tabs by swiping across the screen and offers username and hashtag suggestions as they type a tweet or search.

The update also brings the new cards through which Twitter displays embedded content related to apps in tweets on its mobile apps. The app now allows users to discover, install and launch apps from Tweets. This means that if users click on a tweet that has a reference to another app, the details will also include a direct link to download the app or open it. For example, if the user expands a Tweet to view a photo from Flickr, the user will be able to tap the link to open the photo in Flickr. If one doesn't have the Flickr app on the phone, one can tap to install it from the Tweet.

The iOS app has also been updated to support new cards to allow users to download apps or open apps that are already installed through deep-links. The update also brings other changes including faster launch times and general performance upgrades and makes "Retweeted by" in Tweet detail tappable. It also brings a fix for reply-to-self in conversations and for a bug that prevented undoing retweets in some cases.

The Twitter mobile web app has also received the app cards feature.

Twitter had announced app installs and deep links via cards just two days back. Developers  need to add a new set of markup tags for enabling the same.

Twitter had recently overhauled its native Windows Phone app bringing a new user interface, support for live tiles and lock screen notifications.
