GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi Action Camera With 8-Megapixel Sensor Launched

GoPro, the popular action camera maker, has launched its new entry-level Hero+ action camera. Priced at $199.99 (approximately Rs. 13,250), the Hero+ will be available via authorised retailers across the world and on GoPro.com beginning October 4.

The company alongside also announced a price slash on its Hero4 Session action camera which will be now available at $299.99 (approximately Rs. 19,900), down from the launch price of $399.99 (approximately Rs. 26,500).

Fitting between the GoPro Hero ($129.99) and Hero+ LCD ($299.99), the GoPro Hero+ features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, but skips the LCD touchscreen on the top-end offering. It can record videos at 1080p (full-HD resolution) at 60fps and click images at 8-megapixel, offering an image resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. The new action camera supports up to 64GB Class 10 microSD cards. Similar to the other GoPro action cameras, the Hero+ is also rugged, durable and waterproof up to 40 metres.

The company claims that the GoPro Hero+ can automatically adjust frame rates according to lighting conditions. The device features Spot Meter, which automatically sets the exposure based on a single spot in the middle of the image. The GoPro Hero+ with the press of a button automatically turns on and begins recording video or capturing Time Lapse photos. It weighs 123 grams.

The device sports an ultra-wide angle glass lens with reduced distortion and fixed f/2.8 aperture. For backup, the GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi packs a 1160mAh integrated battery.
