  • India got student memberships back in 2016
  • Student memberships are now available in 79 more markets
  • Three more markets will get it by February 26

Apple announced the expansion of Apple Music student memberships on Monday, saying they would be available by February 26 in 82 additional markets, of which 79 are now live. The expansion brings student memberships to nearly all the markets Apple Music is available in. To recall, India got the student membership offering back in November 2016, a few months after the membership's launch in seven countries in May that year. Apple Music made its way to India alongside its global launch with iOS 9 in 2015.

In India, the Apple Music student membership is priced at Rs. 60 per month, whereas an individual (non-student) membership is priced at Rs. 120 per month, and a family membership for up to six people is priced at Rs. 190 per month. The Apple Music subscription prices in India are the lowest Apple offers globally.

The student memberships are verified by UNiDAYS, a student verification technology provider. Students will have to be enrolled in an eligible college or university. The plan will be valid for up to four years, with the option to include study breaks in between.
