Netflix has released a new trailer for Luke Cage season 2, giving us an extended glimpse at what to expect from the return of Harlem's bulletproof hero next month. Mike Colter stars as the eponymous hero in the Marvel series, which is one of five ongoing Marvel superhero shows on Netflix, alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Punisher.

The Luke Cage season 2 trailer opens with an explosion, through which Cage casually walks out of. It then introduces us to the changes in Harlem due to his superhuman activities: people are either happy or scared to see him, and there are even murals in his tribute. When bad guys confront him with guns, Cage wonders why out loud, to which they reply: "You gotta know we tried man."

Cue more shots of Cage easily dealing with gun-toting men, lying to the police with Misty Knight (Simone Missick) standing by, before someone crosses him on the streets and proclaims: "Harlem is mine." The new guy turns out to be John McIver (Mustafa Shakir) aka Bushmaster, and Cage getting knocked down by him is obviously a big story, because he turns out to be as powerful and as bulletproof as him.

Cage then decides to go after him, and the trailer moves into a higher action gear, as expected when two bulletproof men go after each other. There are shots of other supporting cast members too, including Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard), and Shades (Theo Rossi). Joining McIver as new cast member is Gabrielle Denis as Tilda Johnson, a holistic doctor.

The Iron Fist aka Danny Rand (Finn Jones) will guest star in Luke Cage season 2 as well, though he's not seen in the new trailer. The Marvel-Netflix shows have always operated almost on a tangent to the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it's unlikely the events of Avengers: Infinity War will have an effect on the show. Of course, that depends on its place in the overall timeline, as is.
