Blizzard has “multiple Diablo projects in the works”, it announced Wednesday.

In a video posted to Diablo’s various social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, community manager Brandy Camel said: "The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works. Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year. We hope you stay tuned while we work to bring these Diablo experiences to life."

Camel also teased that Blizzard would talk about some of those in detail later this year, hinting at a possible reveal during the publisher’s annual gaming convention BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, whose 2018 event is scheduled for November 2-3.

Blizzard confirmed “a new, unannounced Diablo project” back in June via a new job posting for a “dungeon artist” to work with the Blizzard team. This is likely to be Diablo 4 and the one Camel says is “going to take longer than others”.

Another one of those “multiple Diablo projects in the works” is likely a Diablo III port for the Nintendo Switch. Blizzard teased it in February and then denied it, but people familiar with the matter told Eurogamer in March that Diablo III was in development for Nintendo’s hybrid console after all.

The Diablo franchise kicked off in 1996 on PC, whose success led to the first sequel Diablo II in 2000. But it would be another 12 years before players got their hand on the third and latest instalment, Diablo III, which along with its 2014 expansion Reaper of Souls has sold over 30 million copies across all platforms.
