Sony to mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of its iconic gaming console, PlayStation, has announced a special-edition PlayStation 4 in limited quantities.

As per the announcement made by President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, the limited PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition is available in 'Original Grey' colour and comes priced at EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 38,000). The console is only available in 12,300 units worldwide and together with the price, the numbers denote the date of the launch of the first PlayStation - December 3, 1994. Not only the console but the console's chassis, controllers and other accessories sport the same grey coloured 1994 signature style.

The console is not available as of yet. Yoshida states that the PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition will not be available with all the traditional retail channels in the SCEE region. "Look out for more information soon on how you can get your hands on one of these highly collectable consoles," he added on the company's blog post.
