Steam Library redesign release date slated for summer

Steam will be getting a much needed overhaul this summer. Valve, the company behind it announced that the de facto PC game storefront for many will be getting a redesign at GDC 2019. The Steam Library will get improved categorisation and scaleable thumbnails. Furthermore, the Steam Library homepage will get an integrated friends list, activity feed for recent actions, and more visible achievements, screenshots, and playtime to name a few. Plus, tags will also be included in the redesign. These let you see added to games in your Steam Library.

In addition to this, an Events tab will be added. This gives you a quick look of streams, updates, tournaments or any other details regarding the games you've bought or follow.

The news of a Steam redesign is hot on the heels of renewed competition in the PC gaming space what with Epic Games Store snagging a host of high-profile exclusives such as Metro: Exodus, Control, and Detroit: Become Human to name a few.

Prior to GDC 2019, Valve made two announcements. The first one is Steam Link Anywhere – an extension of the Steam Link service that allows users to stream games from their Steam library on any compatible device on the go. The Steam Link Anywhere feature is now available as a beta on the Steam Link app as well as the Steam Link set-top box.
