As reported earlier, the Xbox One update for April would bring voice messaging to the console. Along with this anticipated feature, dedicated servers for party chat were to be made available as well.
However, a post announcing the feature set for the update - which is available for download right now - indicates that these two hotly anticipated features will show up at a later date.
"We are keeping voice messaging and dedicated servers for party chat in preview as we continue to fine-tune them based on feedback from preview program members," said Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb, Director of Programming for Xbox, in a post on the Xbox Wire site.
Nonetheless, the Xbox One April Update comes with a host of other improvements. These include achievement notifications, which will now display the achievement description in the notification without having to go to the app. As per feedback from the Xbox One preview program, the time that an achievement notification is displayed has been increased, and some tweaks have been made to make loading of the achievements app from a notification faster.
In addition to this, party chat has enhanced troubleshooting guidance. The party app will now help you get your microphone up and running as well as show you if your privacy settings or network issues are blocking communication with particular party members.
Also, it is now easier to discover game hub content. When you see activity feed items from your friends who follow a game, you can get back to a game's hub from activity feed posts related to the game - including feed items about the game's achievements, game clips and screenshots.
Finally, the What's One area for videos, movies, and TV shows is now available in the US, Canada, and the UK along with Trending TV shows if you have configured OneGuide for your Xbox One console.
