Microsoft on Wednesday announced an increased file upload limit for OneDrive customers, from the earlier 2GB to 10GB. The increased support is applicable to all platforms - Windows, Mac, all mobile apps, and the OneDrive website; however the business customers will have to wait as the company is "also working on enabling this" for them.

The company announced the OneDrive large file support along with detailing some performance enhancements that have begun rolling out and will be available worldwide in the coming weeks.

For OneDrive desktop users, the company has increased the number of files that can be downloaded or uploaded at a given time on Windows and Mac. Microsoft says that in its internal tests, "this parallel syncing netted an approximately threefold increase in syncing speed."

OneDrive users on Windows 7 and Windows 8 will now be able to create a link to their content from their OneDrive folder itself. Users will need to right-click on the file and they will see a "Share a OneDrive link" option to create a link, which can be further added to Clipboard. Microsoft says that it will update Windows 8.1 and Mac users, once it is available for them too.

Lastly, the company also updated the OneDrive website with the ability to drag folders directly "from browsers where folder dragging/dropping is supported (specifically Google Chrome)."

"Our goal with OneDrive is to provide a single place for you to store and share all the files in your life, regardless of their number or size. That's why we're excited to make it possible for you to store larger files, get them into OneDrive more quickly, and share them easily," said Jason Moore, Group Program Manager, OneDrive.
