In a Facebook post the hacker 'MrCreepy' also claimed to have targeted the websites of Pune Traffic Police (punetrafficpolice.gov.in) and janwani.org. While the home pages of the two websites load fine at the time of filing this report, the files that the hacker uploaded to their servers can still be accessed via the direct links, meaning the administrators still haven't cleaned the servers.

The hacker was apparently 'celebrating' Pakistan's Independence Day, that falls on August 14, by targeting official Indian websites, as evident from a series of Facebook posts.

The incident was first reported by Telecom Talk.

Last year, the website of state-run telecom company MTNL was disrupted by hacking group Anonymous to protest against "censorship" of Internet in the country. At the time MTNL's corporate website could not be accessed, though its individual city-specific websites (for Delhi and Mumbai) were working.

A post on the Anonymous Operation India web page claimed responsibility for the incident, saying "we are against Internet Censorship. Instead of blocking few URLs, the ISP (MTNL) blocked the whole domain of various file sharing websites."
