A new video claimed to show the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with an overhauled edge panel functionality has been uploaded on YouTube.

As seen in the 2-minute long video, the apps in the Edge Screen v1.0.52 of the Galaxy S6 Edge are divided in to two categories - Edge Feeds and Edge Panels. While the Edge feeds apps are for taking a quick look at the useful information from different apps, the Edge panels add more functionality to the curved display, making more use of it than before.

Some new apps such as My Apps to access recently used apps, Task to access commonly used apps, Quick Tools, S Planner, Weather, Twitter trends, Yahoo, and Sports were also found running on the curved panel of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based Galaxy S6 Edge. All of them can be seen as user swipes from the right of the smartphone display.

Although Samsung has not yet brought latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to any of its Galaxy smartphones, this video suggests that it might be under testing and may start reaching soon. Do note, the authenticity of the video has not been verified, and so readers are advised to take the information cleaned with a pinch of salt.

Samsung last week announced a beta testing programme where registered users can install upcoming firmware updates to provide feedback to the company before it rolls out the final versions globally. Called the Galaxy Beta Program, the first beta test is for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones.

As per Samsung's leaked Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap, which surfaced on the Web last month, the company was supposed to start pushing the latest build this month with its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones. It added the update to reach the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in January. The Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are claimed to receive the update in February.
