  • Former CTO Steve Kondik's future reportedly uncertain

Cyanogen may announce a second round of layoffs, if a new report is to be believed. The company is also said to be considering closing its Seattle headquarters. A new report citing people familiar with the matter also claims that the future of Steve Kondik, Cyanogen's Co-Founder and former CTO, in the company is unknown. To recall, Cyanogen went through a lot of turmoil back in July where the company had to lay off almost 20 percent of its entire workforce.

The report citing people "both in and outside the company" claims that Cyanogen made an internal announcement to close the Seattle headquarters by the end of this year. The company is also reportedly giving select employees an option to move to the Palo Alto office, which is said to be smaller in size compared to the Seattle headquarters. Android Police in its report adds that the company recently let go of two of its staff responsible for Android development. At this point, it isn't clear how many Cyanogen employees will be laid off.

Cyanogen in October announced the company's former COO Lior Tal would take on the role of CEO, and join the Board of Directors. Steve Kondik, on the other hand, took on a new role as Chief Science Officer, though it wasn't clear what this position entailed. Cyanogen had also announced an all-new Modular OS Program, which was seen as an expansion of its Mod initiative. The company also reshuffled executives, where Kirt McMaster, Cyanogen's Co-Founder and former CEO, was made the new Executive Chairman.

The report also points to the GlassDoor job listings where Cyanogen has multiple positions though it isn't clear whether the positions are still open for new people.
