HTC on Friday launched a new mid-range smartphone in India, the Desire 626 Dual SIM, priced at Rs. 14,990. The smartphone will be available in Blue Lagoon and White Birch colour variants with major retailers in the coming weeks. It is worth mentioning that the Taiwanese tech firm nearly a year ago launched the single-SIM version of the smartphone in China, with significantly different specifications.

The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM) supporting smartphone comes with HTC Sense UI on top of Android. While the company has not detailed the Android version (or for that matter, the Sense UI version), we can expect the HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It features a 5-inch (720x1280 pixels) HD display and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor that's coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The Desire 626 Dual SIM bears 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB). It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with a BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 28mm lens, and LED flash, apart from a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera with a BSI sensor. The rear camera features scene detection, panaroma, geo-tagging, best shot, smile shot, and HDR options.

Apart from 4G LTE, the HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, DLNA, GLONASS, and FM radio connectivity options. It is powered by a 2000mAh battery and includes accelerometer, ambient light, and magnetic sensor. The Desire 626 Dual SIM measures 146.9x70.9x8.19mm and weighs 135 grams. The connectivity options included are Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB 2.0, and GPS.

"Our customers are gradually looking for stylish 4G LTE enabled smartphones with faster processors, network speeds and outstanding battery life. They are creating and consuming rich video content and want greater freedom to personalise their smartphones. We know they love the flexibility that comes with expandable memory," said Faisal Siddiqui, President, HTC South Asia during the launch. "At a remarkable price, the HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM delivers the distinctive features with an outstanding user experience in a sleek, chic, slim package."
