A new report by mobile advertising firm AdDuplex finds that the US is leading the way when it comes to the number of active Windows Phone devices, followed by India, and Brazil.

The AdDuplex report is based on the data gathered on July 8 from 11 global apps and games that serve AdDuplex ads. This method is not the most accurate of course, as these apps are not necessarily installed in all Windows Phone devices across the world. Also, the devices accessing the apps have also not been detailed.

The report notes that out of the total number of Windows Phone devices accessing these apps on the day, the US chipped-in a majority at 11 percent, followed by India 7.5 percent, Brazil at 6.9 percent, and Russia and Italy both at 4.3 percent.

"These apps served ads to around 200,000 users on that day. The apps were deliberately selected to be as "global" as possible, but the dataset could still be affected by different ad strategies of the app publishers on a country-by-country basis and other factors. We will try to improve on this concept for the future reports," states AdDuplex.

Back in November, an AdDuplex report indicating device-breakup for the Windows Phone OS platform, showed the Nokia Lumia 520 leading globally with a 26.5 percent share, followed by Lumia 920 at 8.8 percent, Lumia 620 at 8.6 percent, and Lumia 710 at 6.2 percent.

On Tuesday, Microsoft Mobiles announced the roll-out of the the Lumia 930 smartphone. Priced at $599 (approximately Rs. 35,800), the sales of Lumia 930 will begin this week in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The company also said that "further rollout throughout the world (except the US) will continue over the coming weeks."

The Lumia 930 was first unveiled in April at Microsoft's Build 2014 conference along with the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635.
