Apple might launch an iPhone with 4.7-inch display at the WWDC event scheduled in June 2014, while a 5.7-inch variant will be follow soon after, claims a Chinese analyst.

According to Sun Chyang Xu, a Chinese analyst who previously had made revelations about Google-owned Motorola Mobility's Moto X, Apple will launch two iPhone models, much like the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s announced last year; and this time, it is believed they will be sporting 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch displays.

Further, Xu has claimed that the Cupertino based company will start trial-production of the alleged iPhone with 4.7-inch display in February. According to Xu, if things go Apple's way, the company will start mass-production of the iPhone with 4.7-inch display in May. Xu expects that the 4.7-inch iPhone model might see light of the day at the WWDC event in June.

The Chinese analyst has also suggested that the alleged iPhone model sporting a 4.7-inch display will boast a screen resolution of 640x1136 pixels, which is the same resolution found on iPhone devices with 4-inch display.

An earlier report had suggested that Apple has been considering use of alloys in new iPhone, which was hinted by a Liquidmetal patent filing. A series of 17 Liquidmetal patent applications were revealed in the report and the patents were said to be Apple employees who were working closely with the Liquidmetal work in the past. The first patent filing was for a pressure sensor made out of Liquidmetal alloys, to be used in buttons or switches.

Apple recently announced that it will launch its iPhone on China Mobile's vast network, which would open the door to the world's largest carrier's 763 million subscribers, and give its China sales a short-term jolt. The long-awaited deal is expected to trigger a limited turnaround for Apple, whose fortunes have wavered in China in the face of stiff competition from market-leader Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and up-and-coming local rival Xiaomi Tech.
