Karbonn might soon introduce a new 'Platinum' smartphone series by launching the Platinum P9 handset, as it has been listed by an e-commerce website and is available to buy at Rs. 8,899. The firm has not yet listed the smartphone on its website.

The Karbonn Platinum P9 dual-SIM smartphone features a 6-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat-based Platinum P9 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a secondary 8-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. It is worth mentioning that Micromax, another smartphone maker, launched a 13-megapixel front-facing camera smartphone named Micromax Canvas Selfie last month, but at Rs. 15,999.

On the connectivity front, the Karbonn Platinum P9 offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth options. The smartphone packs a 2500mAh battery. The handset is available in Black colour variant only via Snapdeal.

The smartphone might prove to be competition to the Huawei Ascend GX1 smartphone when it comes to display, processor and RAM. While the Platinum P9 leads in camera section, the GX1 comes with a larger battery.

Karbonn last month launched the Titanium Dazzle smartphone in India at Rs. 5,490. The dual-SIM based Karbonn Titanium Dazzle comes with support for 21 languages, which can be considered the highlight of the device. Key specifications of the handset include a 5-inch (480x854 pixels) FWVGA display; a 1.2GHz quad-core processor; 1GB of RAM; 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB); a 5-megapixel rear camera; a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 1850mAh battery.
