Lava, soon after launching the selfie-focused Iris X5, seems all set to launch a new Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphone in India, the Iris 400Q. The new budget smartphone from Lava is now available online at Rs. 5,499 on an e-commerce website.

There is no official word on the launch details of the Lava Iris 400Q; however, we expect that the company will announce the handset in coming days.

The Lava Iris 400Q features a 4-inch (480x800 pixels) WVGA TFT display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor that's coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support.

The smartphone features 4GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB). It features a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options on the Lava Iris 400Q include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and FM radio.

Lava's new budget Iris 400Q will be up against the likes of some popular smartphones in the sub-Rs. 8,000 category such as the Asus ZenFone 4 A450CG, which went on sale by August-end via online retail partner Flipkart, priced at Rs. 6,999, and the well-liked Moto E, priced at Rs. 6,999 that did sell in the market like hot-cakes.

Earlier this week, Lava in a bid to cash-in on the selfie-trend launched the Iris X5 at Rs. 8,799. It will be exclusively available to purchase on Amazon India.
