Lenovo is reportedly working on a phone with 1080p display, according to a report in Engadget.

The report cites pictures (see above) spotted on Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo and goes on to speculate that the phone's display may be somewhere between 4.5 and 5.5 inches. The pictures seem to indicate the phone will also feature dual-SIM connectivity.

Spotted on Sina Weibo earlier this week (but have since been deleted) are the above three screenshots showing off Lenovo's customised Android UI in 1080p glory. As with many phones in China these days, the device in question supports dual-SIM connectivity -- the screenshots indicate that it's connected to China Telecom's CDMA2000 network and China Mobile's 2G network simultaneously.

Our own source wouldn't directly confirm that it's a five-inch display on this mysterious phone, but we were told that it'll be somewhere between 4.5 inches and 5.5 inches - we'll take that as a yes, especially since the only 1080p mobile panels available right now are the five-inch, 440ppi ones from Sharp and JDI.

Last month, we saw reports that Samsung and LG are getting ready to launch phones with full-HD display in the first half of 2013. LG has already showcased a prototype of 5-inch screen with a 1920x1080 resolution at 440 pixels per inch.

October also saw HTC announce J Butterfly, its first phone with full-HD display. Unveiled in Japan, the HTC J Butterfly features a 5-inch Super LCD 3 display with 1920x1080p display at 440ppi. Other features of the HTC J Butterfly include 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The smartphone also comes with 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Android 4.1, HTC Sense 4+ and 2020 mAh battery.
