Nokia took the wraps off its much-awaited phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520, at Nokia World in Abu Dhabi. It also launched a more affordable version, called Lumia 1320, apart from three new Asha phones, and a new Windows RT tablet (Lumia 2520).

The Nokia Lumia 1520, as rumoured comes with 6-inch full-HD (1080x1920) LCD display, the biggest seen on a Nokia phone yet and sports a 20-megapixel PureView camera accompanied by dual-LED flash. The Nokia Lumia 1520 will come at $749 (excluding taxes and subsidies), which roughly translates to Rs. 46,300, and will be rolled out later this year. The company announced that the Lumia 1520 will be first available in Hong Kong, Singapore, US and European markets in Q4 2013, and will be rolled out in other markets later this year.

As expected, the Lumia 1520 features an onslaught of new hardware and software features, which was introduced with third Windows Phone update. It runs Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 with Lumia Black and comes with the third Live Tile column in the Start menu.

The newly launched Nokia Lumia 1520 also becomes the first Windows Phone to feature the new quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and also includes 2GB of RAM. It packs a 3400mAh battery, with built-in wireless charging functionality. The Lumia 1520 also features a front-facing 2-megapixel HD camera.

The Lumia 1520 packs new preloaded app like Nokia Storyteller app which integrates clicked images and recorded videos with HERE maps; a new Nokia Camera app with Pro Camera UI. The phone will come in four colour variants - Black, Red, White and Yellow. The company noted that the Nokia Lumia 1520 Black colour variant is made of recyclable materials.  The new Lumia 1520 also comes preloaded with Microsoft Office and 7GB of Skydrive cloud storage space.

All the new features of Windows Phone 8's third update and Nokia's own updated UI will be available as a single upgrade for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 users, called the Lumia Black update, and will ship early next year.

Along with the Nokia Lumia 1520, the company also debuted the more affordable phablet, the Lumia 1320, and new Asha phones, the Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503.
